Business's get access to Claude Opus 5.5 yet personal Pro+ members do not? #210483

Your Pro+ subscription actually does include access to premium models like Claude Opus—so it isn't an intentional tier restriction. If you see it under your company account but not under your personal Pro+ account in Visual Studio, it is almost certainly due to one of three configuration hurdles: 1. The Anthropic Model Toggle Is Not Enabled on Your Personal AccountIn a GitHub Business/Enterprise organization, your workspace administrator centrally toggled on Anthropic/third-party model access for all members. On personal individual plans, access is not always enabled by default:
2. AI Credit & Flex Usage LimitsOpus-tier models consume significantly more GitHub AI Credits per prompt/turn than standard models:
Check your current credit balance under Settings → Billing and plans → Copilot. 3. Visual Studio Token & Entitlement CachingVisual Studio frequently caches Copilot entitlement tokens based on the last active GitHub session. When switching between a work and personal GitHub profile, the IDE often fails to re-query the model catalog:
Once the Anthropic policy is toggled on in your personal account and your credentials refresh, Claude Opus will appear in the Agent Mode model selector. |

Pro+ actually includes access to Opus, so it’s not an enterprise-only restriction. Usually, third-party models just need to be turned on manually for personal accounts. Go to your GitHub Copilot settings (github.com/settings/copilot), make sure Anthropic models are set to allowed, and check that your monthly AI credit balance isn't depleted. If it's already enabled, Visual Studio is likely caching an old session token from your work account. Head to File → Account Settings in Visual Studio, re-enter credentials for your personal GitHub account, and restart the IDE so it fetches your updated model list. |

Hi @Clouvey, Pro+ should include Claude Opus 5.5. GitHub’s changelog for the release lists it as available to Copilot Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise, and names Visual Studio among the supported clients. So this is probably a configuration or rollout issue rather than a plan limitation. Things to check, roughly in order of likelihood:
Visual Studio can be signed into several accounts at once, and Copilot may be tied to your business account rather than your personal one. Check Account Settings (your profile picture, top right) and confirm the personal account with Pro+ is signed in and is the one Copilot is using. Sign out and back in if needed.
Newer models sometimes require a recent Visual Studio or Copilot extension update. Install any pending updates in the Visual Studio Installer, then restart.
Open the model picker in the Copilot Chat window and look for a Manage models (or similar) option. A newly released model may need to be enabled there. Also check your account’s Copilot settings at github.com/settings/copilot, where models can have an enable/disable policy.
The changelog says rollout is gradual and to check back if you don’t see the model yet. It may not have reached your account, so give it a day or two.
The changelog says Opus 5.5 is billed at provider list pricing under usage-based billing. Check the billing and usage settings on your personal account in case something there affects access. If it still doesn’t appear after those steps, contact GitHub Support with your username, Visual Studio version, and a screenshot of the model picker. Only Support can check the entitlements on your specific account. Hope this helps! If it does, please mark it as the answer. |

In Visual Studio why do I have access to Claude Opus 5.5 with our business github account and not with my personal Pro+ account? Seems unfair, I though Pro+ was supposed to have access to these models?
