Hi everyone,

I have tried several times to apply for the GitHub Student Developer Pack, but my application keeps getting rejected because GitHub says my location is outside the selected school or college.

I am currently studying at an affiliated college, but I do not have a university email address or a university-issued student ID card.

How can I resolve this location verification issue and successfully verify my student status? What alternative documents can I submit to prove that I am currently enrolled in an affiliated college?

GitHub's automated verification checks your browser's live geolocation against the physical coordinates of the registered campus.

If your college is affiliated or distance-learning and you aren't physically on campus, try these steps:

1. Enable location access in your browser so GitHub can see your coordinates without failing the geo-lookup completely.
2. In the document upload step, do NOT upload a generic ID card without dates. Instead, upload an official semester tuition fee receipt or bonafide student certificate signed/stamped by your college registrar showing the current academic year (e.g. 2026–2027).
3. Make sure the name on your GitHub profile matches the exact legal name printed on your college documents.
