Hey everyone!

I'm working on building an AI-powered sales automation system for a car dealership that uses DealerCenter CRM.

The problem is DealerCenter doesn't offer us a full public API. From what I've been told, they only provide a Prospect POST API, along with SFTP/ADF feeds and scheduled customer reports.

What I'm trying to accomplish is:

Automatically pull customer and lead data from DealerCenter.

Have AI agents analyze old leads and their interested vehicles.

Automate personalized SMS/email follow-ups for customers who have consented to them.

Read customer responses and have AI handle conversations or notify a salesperson.

Ideally sync updates back to DealerCenter.

I know scheduled CSV exports might work for getting data out, but I'm looking for something closer to real-time, two-way integration.

Has anyone worked with DealerCenter or built something similar without having direct API access?

Would scheduled SFTP exports, webhooks, or authorized browser automation be viable alternatives?

Not looking to bypass authentication or permissions, just trying to figure out the best technical approach with the access the dealership already has.

Any advice or project recommendations would be appreciated!

Full real-time two-way sync probably isn’t possible without a full API, but you can get close:

Data in: Ask DealerCenter to schedule lead/customer reports to SFTP as often as they allow. For new leads, ask if they can also send ADF/XML to an email address you control. That is the closest thing to real-time. Load everything into your own database.
AI + messaging: Run lead scoring and message drafting on your database. Send SMS/email through Twilio/SendGrid and receive replies through their webhooks. Keep pricing and availability out of AI-written text unless it comes from structured data.
Handoff: Have the AI classify replies, and alert a salesperson for anything about price, financing or complaints.
Data out: The Prospect POST API usually only creates new leads, so confirm with the vendor. Otherwise have the salesperson log outcomes, or send a daily summary.
Browser automation: Use it only as a last resort. It is fragile and may violate their terms, so get written permission first.

Ask DealerCenter directly about report frequency, ADF routing, and whether they have a partner/integration program.

Compliance: Old leads are not automatically consented for SMS (TCPA). Store consent records, honor STOP immediately, and have a lawyer review your setup.
