MSSQL, importing identity columns does not work

Description

Trying to import a CSV with an id column results in an error

SQL Error [545] [S0001]: Explicit value must be specified for identity column in table 'spots' either when IDENTITY_INSERT is set to ON or when a replication user is inserting into a NOT FOR REPLICATION identity column.

Steps to reproduce

1. Import Data on a table
2. Set everything up
3. Check the transfer auto-generated columns checkbox

4. See the errror i pasted above

Please provide more specific steps to reproduce the issue, including the example table DDL.

I couldn't reproduce the issue for such a table:

CREATE TABLE [ExampleTable] (
    [ID] INT IDENTITY(1,1) PRIMARY KEY, -- Identity column starting at 1 and incrementing by 1
    [Name] NVARCHAR(100) NOT NULL,
    [CreatedDate] DATETIME DEFAULT GETDATE()
);

I investigated further, the error message is just misleading.. When you have an empty value somewhere in your csv for identity, this is the error message you get.

if needed, i can provide a DDL script and a csv to test with, but I am honestly not sure if this is something that needs to be fixed? Maybe a warning in the import task at most?

Thanks for providing the update.
The error that you see goes directly from the database. We don't want to handle it and show our own warning.
I suppose the issue can be closed.
