Describe the Problem
I really hope some of the triage I have discovered will help others with Atomic-based site crashes.
Since its release, I accidentally started integrating elements of Atomic Elements into my site, and then I began having catastrophic crashes repeatedly. At first I couldn't beleive it was Atomic, but as it progressed, the weird backend coding from HostGator proved something was seriously wrong with the Atomic elements. It turned out that because I was using original Elementor elements mixed with Atomic (i.e., 2 headings on the same page, one Atomic, one OG Elementor), the coding on the backend would fight each other. I soon learned that I needed to remove EVERY original element and use only Atomic elements on a page. It didn't work with Elementor as EA and Mega do, but as a silo in and of itself. That would have meant months of a full site rebuild for something that was already crashing my site. I did not have the time, capacity, or trust in the tool to let it go that far.
So I started removing the Atomic elements, and they started fighting back. I would try to delete a field, and the container would delete, but the element itself would embed into my background and not delete. I had to rebuild 2 pages completely because I couldn't get the phantom Atomic elements out.
However, even with all its incompatibility issues, the most annoying part of Atomic is the inability to drag and drop. Moving things around inside one container was not possible; you had to rebuild the whole thing if you wanted to adjust something. Trying to drag and drop a new element into a specific spot would crash the whole page and erase all the work I'd done. I finally figured out that I had to click on the spot just above where I wanted the element to go, then click the element and hope it went into the intended spot. Most of the time that worked, but because I am so used to drag-and-drop, the crashes were so frequent that a 1-page update took 3 days instead of a few hours.
Propose a Solution
Allow the drag-and-drop feature and make Atomic compatible with other Elementor widgets.
Also, if you are going to make elements that corrupt a page, when someone wants to turn off the feature because of that behavior, offer an option to convert elements to a standard, lower-level version instead of making the site lose all its data. i.e., a heading that was atomic can easily default to a regular heading, but instead you have to go in, replace it, and hope you got everything out before turning it off. Atomic is like a virus; I do not recommend using it.

My description has all of the workarounds I found.
