Duplicating text effects

Hey! I'm a little bit confused while dealing with text effects. I want to create two text filters for the first and the third letter in the word. So I press RMB on the first filter when object is selected, then Copy. For some reason when I tap with RMB on Text effects button Paste is not active, but when I create a new filter and press RMB on it then Paste works... but in an unexpected way. How to move the influence area of the second filter without affecting the area of the first one? Is there any way to be able to work with just text effect influence area at a time? Sorry if these are silly questions, just starting with Friction, have experience with animation on mobile though. :)
