I'm researching how to make my laptop a full relay; there's already a free one pre-installed in Knit, but it's only text-based. |
|
I also don't think a full one is necessary; text is fine as is. |

I've been investigating, now I'll try to install it on my laptop. I'll give you the spool address if I can create it and we can chat from there! |

You can also use the Community tab on my YouTube channel, which is about Knit. I'll leave the link below: |

Cool idea 🙂 Anyone can run their own relay (Spool as I call them) via https://github.com/getknit/knit-spool. Though, it may take a little bit of knowledge to get it up and running, I tried to add as much help in the readme as possible. But feel free to send me a DM if need any specific help! That said, the free public spool will soon support small files (up to 256KiB) as well as text. This is already in the public alpha builds if you would like to test. Anywhere spools will support up to 25MiB files. You can also rent your own spool from my Hosted service for about $2.50/mo ^_^. But to your original question, the Spool does support what I call The Commons, which is basically a spool-wide chat that everyone connected to that spool can join https://github.com/getknit/knit-spool#-the-commons. However, it's not fully implemented in Knit app yet as I got distracted on Meshtastic support 😛 But I will prioritize it soon if people are interested in it. Then you'd be able to run your own spool for free with a password to join and everyone who does can talk to each other without having to manually add each other like you imagined. |
Uh oh!

Hello everyone, it came to my mind that we could make a group chat over the internet relay.
It could be used for testing and a chill place.
Is there a internet relay that we can use?
Not publicly advertised but anyone that stumbles upon here can join.
