A way to open a book without setting it to "Reading" and updating progress

I'd like to peek into a book to check if the layout and structure look okay before leaving it on the growing "to read" shelf for my e-reader to fetch.

When I open it in grimmory, the book gets set to "reading" and reading progress is recorded. Undoing that is a few extra clicks I'd like to avoid.

I have a few ideas how to approach this:

• allow opening books from the bookdrop folder - that would mainly solve my curation and checking use case
• a single "reset book" button that resets a book to unread and wipes all progress - dangerous, would require a safety prompt, so more clicks again
• a "open without tracking" option in the "read" button dropdown - could also name it "Peek" but that's probably not intuitive enough as to what it does

A Feature Request to facilitate this has now been added to the roadmap [[#153]]. This aligns with your third suggestion, providing a 'peek' button on the Book Details page. I think this solution would support most use cases, as there's often a need to review files outside of Bookdrop (and caters to those who do not use Bookdrop) 😊

Issue #153 was closed as completed, but I can’t find the feature in the current app.
I also couldn’t find a linked PR implementing a preview / “Peek inside” mode that avoids saving reading progress and session stats.
Could this be reopened or tracked again?

In my mind, it is not planned nor rejected. My hands are full, essentially it is unlikely I will be pick this up in a timely manner.

I implemented a small prototype of this feature locally - peek inside button.

It adds a new button in the book details. Would this direction make sense for the project? If yes, could it be added as a tracked issue in the backlog so I can continue working on it?
