What's Your Idea?

Since ISBNs encode the publisher by way of the publisher code, it would be possible to determine a book’s publisher by looking at the ISBN prefix. This needs a database to map ISBN prefixes to publishers, but that could also be solved by allowing the user to manually add prefixes to the publisher entries.

This would require Grimmory to have the publisher as a distinguished object type with associated metadata, such as the assigned ISBN prefixes.

Why Would This Be Helpful?

Right now, the publisher needs to be set for each book in the library. This produces possible duplicates due to different spellings requiring the metadata manager to fix.
