Describe the enhancement

Currently, google task has its own integration, this works with the to-do list but not the calendar. I would like if these tasks that have assigned due dates could be implement into the calendar (with a duration assigned) so you could timebox your day and also mark the todo list item off in calendar after completing a task.

Use cases

This would allow one to schedule to do items and mark them off as completed when they are done. If they are not done, it would show late in the todo list like they currently do.

Just to clarify how this works today:

• The Home Assistant Google Tasks integration exposes Google Tasks as a todo entity.
• Home Assistant does not control how Google Calendar (the Google UI) displays Tasks. Showing Tasks inside the Google Calendar web/app is handled entirely on Google’s side - you can enable that by turning on the dedicated “Tasks” calendar in Google Calendar.

On the HA side, the integration already supports due dates for tasks. You can set them via the todo.add_item service by using the due_date / due_datetime fields, as documented here: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/todo#action-todoadd_item

So from the HA perspective there isn’t really a separate “Google Tasks → Calendar integration” to implement.

Maybe I worded it poorly, or I'm just miss understanding.

Currently, google allows you to put an event on the calendar but it lives in the 'task' calendar, so the API does not bring it over on the calendar, just on the Task integration. So when you bring over the calendar and task into Home Assistant, the todo don't overlay on the calendar.

I think it would be allowing the todo entity to be placed within the calendar and adding another date/time field for the event(as a scheduled date/time) similiar to how google handles it on their side. More or less merging them together. Maybe I'm thinking about this wrong?

This form is used to add a new task to your Google Tasks list. The last field allows you to specify which list this is.

Currently, you can add a new task to the calendar, which will appear in the calendar.

Unfortunately, we cannot determine the exact time due to Google API limitation.
The problem likely lies with the fact that the Google Tasks API only accepts a date for the due field; time portions are discarded. Here’s the Google issue page Google Issue Tracker. It doesn’t seem likely to be fixed by Google anytime soon though… It’s been open for 6+ years.

What I was thinking:

Clicking the box would also complete the to-do task.

Also when making this mockup, discovered a potential bug with the task integration. I put the due date in google to be 11/20, it reflects the 11/17 date that I 'scheduled' in the task app. Maybe thats how the API has the data, I don't know.
