I purchased a new Broadlink RM MAX which is the successor of RM4 Pro.
however it doesnt pair to the integration in home assistant - i get a message : device not supported.
can you please add support for this device in the broadlink integration? thanks.

I too would hope that it would be supported ASAP. Trying to use it for a project that the Broadlink RM 4 Pro will not work due to the frequency limitations.

Hello, I am a user of the Broadlink RM MAX and I confirm this device is currently unsupported. I have verified my device's Product ID (PID), and it is indeed 0x8baf0000. Please consider adding support for this PID to the broadlink integration. Thank you :)

An alternative is using Broadlink magic home app- then through rm max settings and use matter to connect. The IR part works fine for device, the RF part still needs some polishing though.

This sounds interesting as a backup solution, can you please provide more details?

Add matter integration on your haos instance. I went to settings > apps > install, then install matter server. One can probably refer to the official docs for that portion

Then download the broadlink magic home app instead of the broadlink app. Probably need to reset to add rm max but the flow is similar to the broadlink app. Then select your rm max and on the top right select setting to enable the matter pairing from there.

Currently the add device under rm max seems to be ir only, except the rf device, but the app seems updated pretty frequently on app store. In fact matter support seems updated just last week, so probably will improve.

Did you actually get the IR and RF devices to show up in Home Assistant as entities? I can connect the rm max to HA through matter, it shows up, pings, I get a device but no entities, no endpoints. I can add devices to the magic app that the RM Max can control, I can create scenes there, but nothing I do will cause those controls to show up as an entity.

I believe those brands that are already present will have the devices and entities appear in HA, whereas things you add manually will not show up at the current stage. My mitsubishi aircon (ir) has like 5 entities without doing anything additional, whereas my rf fan doesn't even show up as a device, have not tested ir brand not in the list yet. I can add automations/scenes in HA and/or the app for the aircon but they are not synced.

Excellent! You actually gave me be a clue how to work around this until (if?) broadlink extends bridging to custom devices. I can add a light, fan, set top box, DVD play, and the matter bridge exposed something in HA. Mostly just power toggle. But I can relearn the power button command in those devices to get HA to fire an IR command of my choice. Hacky, but at least I can use the RM max on HA now.

I hope I can do the same for RF, but I'm doubtful

This is where AI got me caught it gave the great suggestion of this device and it works really well. But I can't integrate it with HA like it said I could! Can we please get this added to it's support as I mainly want it for RF support.
