Our recent v0.2 graphics update was a pretty big step up. FYI, in v0.2.1 I'm adding bloom effect and a user option for physical lights with camera compensation. This will move the simulation much closer to photorealism than any simulation out there to my knowledge. The physical light is optional because a lot of users and game developers won't want hard photorealism. (I like it. But all games and simulations I've seen shy away from photorealism in favor of a much softer HDR kind of look.) Can you tell me more specifically what Solar System 3D has that we should add or improve in I, Voyager? I'm not sure what you mean by "support their formats". Show screenshots if you see something visual that another simulator is doing better. Our goal here is to provide true color and (at least options for) photorealism. But the Core submodule provides a lot of knobs to turn for developers that want a more game-like appearance. |

AFAIK Solar System 3D is the open-source solar system simulator with best graphics, model and texture quality.
I would like to suggest to port or reimplement its features to Godot, mainly the realistic graphical effects.
For models and textures I suggest to add optional support for their formats.
