That looks great! I was trying to get v0.2.1 out before I went on vacation for a week, but can't quite do it due to defects specifically in our web deployment. Hence my slow response here. If you're working from our GitHub submodules, it's all already in the Read the TODO in tree_components/orbit.gd. It outlines two classes IVManeuveringOrbit and IVResonantOrbit. The former will have impulse and thrust, the latter brings in Lagrange points. (We already have L4/L5 math in the asteroid shaders for the Trojans; I just need to bring that and the other L-points into the new GDScript orbit class.) There are a large number of new docs in the Core plugin now; go here for my most up-to-date I'll try to remember to look at your zoom statement above when I'm back in a week. Or put in an issue report if you don't want it forgotten. |
Uh oh!

Dear @charliewhitfield, first of all, i would like to congratulate you on the fantastic work you have done on 'I, Voyager'.

A huge thank you for sharing this with the community.
I am developing a KSP-style game using Godot. So far, I’ve been programming in C#. I haven't got a finished project yet — I’m just experimenting.
I put together a basic spaceship-building demo, which is when i came across your project.
Right now, I’m experimenting with how to add a spacecraft featuring a 'static' orbit, orbital position markers, maneuver paths, etc. My plan is to implement the spacecraft controls using C#, although, in my experience, I’ll likely need to create some GDScript classes as well. I don’t want to mix C# and GDScript too much, i want to establish a clear boundary between them.
As an experiment, i placed a "Moon2" around Earth and a "CapStone" probe around that.
I found that if i set the IVBody.mean_radius property to 0.0013 and selecting the spacecraft and zooming in on it, the zoom freezes. If i select a different celestial object, the program keeps running, though, because everything works fine.
If the IVBody.mean_radius value is ≥ 0.002, there are no zooming issues.
One more question: is it possible to place the space probe at a Lagrange point?
Regards, Trufiadok.
