Speciailized lighter model

Hi,
I wouldl ike to train a lighter model just for Nodejs / Javacsript dev ecosystems.
Will this be possible ? can anyone just give me hints to start ?

Jan runs models, it doesn't train them, so the training happens elsewhere and then you load the result into Jan.

Rough path:

1. Pick a small coder base, e.g. Qwen2.5-Coder-1.5B-Instruct.
2. Fine-tune a LoRA on a few hundred to a few thousand Node/JS instruction → code pairs. LlamaFactory or Unsloth both handle this on a single consumer GPU (or free Colab for Unsloth).
3. Merge the LoRA and export to GGUF (Unsloth can save GGUF directly, otherwise use llama.cpp's convert_hf_to_gguf.py and quantize to Q4_K_M).
4. Import the .gguf into Jan and use it like any other local model.

Before training anything, it's worth trying a plain Qwen2.5-Coder or similar small coder model in Jan first. For a lot of JS work they're already decent, and you'll get a baseline to compare your fine-tune against.
