Jellyfin currently has two built-in tuner-host implementations: HDHomeRun and M3U. There is no native VBox tuner host in the server, so a VBox gateway should be connected through an M3U playlist, with XMLTV or another supported guide source for EPG data. A native HDHomeRun integration gives Jellyfin device discovery, lineup retrieval, tuner-status handling, and device-specific stream control. With M3U, Jellyfin receives channel URLs and relies on the gateway to enforce tuner allocation, so configuration matters more. For a VBox setup, check that every playlist URL is reachable from the Jellyfin server/container, channel Unless VBox implements the HDHomeRun discovery/lineup API, M3U/XMLTV is the supported path today. |
Uh oh!

Is it planned for the VBox XTi-3442 (DVB-T) gateways to be supported by Jellyfin, as they are by Plex?
What additional benefits does this integration provide, for example with an HDHomeRun (which is not sold in Europe), compared with simply using an M3U file?
What aspects should we pay particular attention to in order to achieve good integration with Jellyfin?
