"Bible" tool Im working on

[ToBeMoreHuman] mentioned posting our projects so we aren't working on the same idea. I think its a great Idea so here is one of mine.

I built a Bible app for the LP3 using the new SDK, designed to feel at home on the phone — pure black and white, no clutter, nothing pulling for your attention.

Read offline
Download a translation once and it lives on your phone. No signal needed to read, search, or anything else. It starts with the King James Version and includes several other free translations (ASV, WEB, Berean, Young's Literal, and more) you can download or remove anytime.

Bookmark your reading spot with one tap — the app remembers where you left off, and the bookmark icon fills in when you're back on that page.

Save verses by long-pressing them. Your saved verses live in one place, with the reference and date, and you can jump back to any of them.

Search the whole Bible for a word or phrase, with forgiving matching so you don't need it exact.
Everything's organized simply: Old Testament, New Testament, Bookmark, Saved, Search, Settings.

More translations (optional)
If you want ESV, it supports Crossway's free personal-use key. And if you want NIV, NKJV, and others, it works with a free API.Bible key — the app walks you through getting either one. These read online; the free ones stay fully offline. < This is the only thing im not super happy with. everyone has to setup their own API token to get it working otherwise I would have to pay to make one that can handle lots of use. Im still trying to find a better solution for this one. If anyone has Ideas let me know.

@cmg-ops, nice work! I recently released a Bible tool as well (with more of a focus on memorization and reference, so still a different angle than yours!!). I am similarly trying to figure out the best ways to honor the API / copyright requirements for those translations and will let you know if I come up with anything!

Side note, a good place to check for other tools recently released / in development would be the Light Phone Discord under the Developers channel. I know one other user also just released a Bible tool yesterday, too – it's all very exciting stuff!

BTW, only sharing that so you can feel even more free to share and/or collaborate!! I personally love seeing so many Bible-centric tools already in development and yours looks great so far :)

I just dont want another login. I felt that this is the best place because of the fact its the official one. But who knows time will tell.

Awesome to see so many people working on this.

I am the developer for waha.app which has dozens of Bibles on it, and also developed an iOS Bible app called Tov, and I can confirm that Bible licensing is an absolute nightmare (and usually expensive, too). That's why I've just stuck with the BSB, which I find to be a good translation that is creative commons.
