We simply didn't have any usage of this portal API. DDE support SNI so most applications will use SNI tray icon to tell the user there is an application running in the background. We'll probably implement org.freedesktop.portal.background in future updates, patches are also welcome btw while it will affect multiple projects (maybe both xdg-desktop-portal-dde, dde-shell and dde-tray-loader) to ensure it works properly. |

Hello,
I have been using an EQ app called Mini EQ for a tiny bit now but I sadly can't enable the background settings cause it requires org.freedesktop.portal.background to be implemented as a portal.
Upon checking the xdg-desktop-portal-dde repo I noticed it was not listed nor marked as implemented in the readme so I did a code search which showed the same result which kind of shocks me since the gtk/gnome and kde/plasma portal packages have it implemented but are obviously meant for their respective DEs.
How come the background portal up to now has never been implemented/considered?
