Dear MuseScore Team,
First of all, thank you for creating and maintaining such a powerful and elegant notation software. MuseScore has become an indispensable tool for musicians around the world, including many users in East Asia who rely on Jianpu (numbered musical notation).
I would like to suggest a small but highly valuable enhancement: adding a "Jianpu Number" option to the Notehead Scheme list.
Currently, MuseScore already offers several notehead schemes such as Pitch Names (C, D, E…), Solfege Movable Do (Do, Re, Mi…), and Solfege Fixed Do. These are incredibly useful for educational purposes and for users who prefer solmization. However, for the large community of Jianpu users (especially in China, Taiwan, and other regions), the most natural representation is the numbered notation (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) corresponding to scale degrees.
Implementing this would be very straightforward, as it essentially mirrors the existing Solfege Movable Do scheme, but replacing the syllables with numbers (Do→1, Re→2, Mi→3, Fa→4, Sol→5, La→6, Ti→7). The notehead would display the number directly inside the notehead shape, just like the current solfege display, with appropriate color (white for filled noteheads, black for hollow ones).
This feature would greatly benefit:
I understand that the MuseScore plugin API currently does not expose the ability to create custom notehead schemes, and manual editing of each notehead is tedious. Therefore, adding this as a native notehead scheme would be the ideal solution.
I would be happy to assist with testing or providing further details if needed. Thank you for considering this request, and thank you again for your dedication to making MuseScore the best free notation software available.
Warm regards!
