Nearly half of the Artists in my Library are missing Artist metadata. Under Metadata Providers I have MusicBrainz and The Audio Db available. For example, TheAudioDb entry for Alanis Morissette has Artist Images and descriptions available on this page, yet when I select 'Update metadata' from the MA Artists page for Alanis Morissette, it does not populate any artist data. FWIW, I also have Jellyfin installed and indexing the same local storage, and for Alanis Morissette it displays the Artist Images from TheAudioDb and indicates that data was pulled from MusicBrainz and TheAudioDb. Sure seems like MA is not really looking at TheAudioDB. How do I work this problem? |

With debugging set to verbose in Settings->System->Metadata, I found this error in the system logs: Yet, I can find this exact album using the MusicBrains web interface. Looking further, I did find that the ID3 'name' tag and the track's filename was 'Crazy (James Michael Mix)'. So I corrected that information to just 'Crazy' then went to Settings->Music->Sources->File System, and selected re-synchronize from the dot-dot-dot menu. This caused MA to show the track title as 'Crazy' instead of 'Crazy (James Michael Mix)'. I then went to the artist page for Alanis Morrisette and told it to refresh metadata. The syslog showed metadata being successfully fetched from The Audio DB and from fanart.tv. Not sure what to make of this - apparently the name of the sole track in my library for this artist was contributing to the MusicBrainz / TheAudioDB lookup, and since the name didn't match any track on an album called 'The Collection' MA didn't think it had the right artist? Seems I now must look at each artist with missing metadata and review all the tracks to make sure every one of them has exactly the same name as what's recorded in MusicBrainz. Yikes. Jellyfin must be more tolerant of track names, or maybe doesn't even consider track names? It does seem like a match on Artist Name and Album Name should be sufficient. |

Next Artist: Akira Jimbo, album Lime Pie. Jellyfin imports fine, and afterwards takes me directly to the ArtistPage. However MA reports an error: |

I am using the 'File System (local disk)' music source. Yes, clearly MA has very high expectations for the ID3 tagging. |

Looks like I'll need to use Picard to rework the tags for all these albums. |
