Sendspin for AirPlay receivers

I use music Assistant to stream to several AirPlay receivers, but when I look at all such players in MA, they all also have Sendspin enabled. Why?

Seems to me that Sendspin is an alternative to AirPlay and can play no part in streaming over AirPlay to AP speakers/receivers. Apple AirPort Expresses etc have no Sendspin code and hence cannot receive a Sendspin stream.

So is there any point in those AirPlay receivers having Sendspin enabled?

Yes it is a bridge that is created to allow those AirPlay devices to be synced to other sendspin devices or other devices (such as cast) that have their own bridges.

Ok thanks, so to confirm, even though the player devices are AirPorts, or AppleTVs or anything else acting as an AirPort receiver, it is still the best idea to leave Sendspin enabled for them all?

Yes it should not hurt anything leaving that enabled and it will provide additional functionality that you may use in the future.

Do you know of any Android Sendspin receiver, i.e. a background daemon that can turn an Android device into something that can receive and play a Sendspin stream?

I'm using something like that for AirPlay on a couple of Android devices but having huge problems with that. Streaming from MA lasts about 5 mins and then stops. The Home Assistant media player thinks it's still running, but no audio and it's no longer visible on the network as an AirPlay receiver, so it's not a MA problem.

I was wondering if there's any Sendspin equivalent and use that to stream to those devices?

Thanks, yes I was aware of that, but it's a full featured media player app with its own display. I'm running Home Assistant on the device (Lenovo ThinkSmart View) and just need to be able to stream from the MA server to that device. Something that can just run in the background like a daemon and receive the stream.

In other rooms I use a Sonoff NSPanelPro 120 to display the Home Assistant dashboard and have an Apple Airport Express alongside, with an amp and speakers for the audio streamed from MA. In the case of the Lenovo TSV, it's an all-in-one device, but I need it to be able to receive an audio stream.

I'm trying to use Air Receiver, an AirPlay receiver, but for some reason it drops off the network after playing for a few minutes. Just the AirPlay. Home Assistant still runs perfectly. So I wondered if there was some minimal Sendspin equivalent.

I'll have a look at SendSpinDroid, but I'm really needing something more minimalist than I suspect SSD can offer.
