User story: Extended Code Management

We got a user feedback on reducing Codes / merge them.

Premise: As a coder I have a list of Codes and related Selections across multiple Sources (documents). Beyond the current functionality of the coding editor I have multiple options and needs:

• rearrangement (mostly covered)
• reduction (not covered)
• extension (not covered)

Rearrangement

New Codes and In-Vivo Codes should also enable to optionally select a parent code in the form (as like with "add subcode").
Rearrangement locking/unlocking is unintuitive.
During arragement I want to fold/unfold subcodes as I need and the codebook should not extend.

Reduction

As a coder I want to merge one or more Codes in order to reduce them into a single code.
In order to do that, I need to be able to see my Selections of these codes across my sources (and not only the current source).

Extension

When creating a new Code as super-category then I might want to move other codes into this Code as sub-Codes.
For this I also need see my Selections of these codes across my sources (and not only the current source).

so let me try to rephrase that - is that capturing your user story?

For Reduction and Extension the user has identified missing features regarding sources view: a code centric view, where i have the code-tree and a text pane showing me all text coded with a selected code across sources

Also we do NOT have Reduction (Merging) one or mode code into a single code as well as Extension (making codes a subcode of a new super code/category)

I did not understand the rearrangement idea… Can you please explain it with a concrete example? Thanks
