Pigsty v4.4.0 is a maintenance release focused on PostgreSQL 18.4 / 19 beta, kernel forks, the extension catalog, the platform matrix, and production operability.

Highlights

PostgreSQL version updates: baseline refreshed to the 18.4 series, PostgreSQL 19 beta1 support added, and a pg19.yml config template provided.
Extension refresh: added 21 PostgreSQL extensions, bringing the total available extension count to 531, with full Ubuntu 26 extension coverage.
Automatic NIC selection: deployment now selects the NIC for the primary IP automatically, so Node VIP and PG VIP no longer require a manual interface name.
Management CLI improvements: pig management capabilities were expanded with clone and fork support, improved information display, and a smoother PITR experience.
Compression strategy improvements: PostgreSQL WAL now uses lz4 compression by default, and pgBackRest's default compression changed from lz4 to zstd. #744
OS updates: Debian/Ubuntu minor release baselines were raised to the latest point releases.
Agent Runtime: Codex is now the default Agent Runtime instead of Claude Code/OpenCode.
New app templates: added the Immich self-hosted photo album template, refreshed the Supabase self-hosting template, and updated the maybe app template.

Bug Fixes

Fixed EL 10 AppStream repository conflicts caused by PGDG packages with the same names.
Fixed the EPEL EL10 repository URL to use the major version as releasever. #752
When /www already exists, bootstrap and repo tasks now use the existing directory directly instead of creating a symlink. #753
Fixed Redis Sentinel password concatenation logic. #748
Aligned the RPM package names for pg_http, pg_gzip, and apache-age with PGDG. #750
Fixed Debian/Ubuntu behavior where the vector log collector was not correctly prevented from auto-starting.
Improved the special handling logic for the el9.aarch64 PGDG Patroni package name, using the noarch suffix filter instead of a hardcoded version.
Fixed the default NIC selection policy for local Vagrant / VirtualBox environments.
Render io_workers only in PG18 templates, avoiding PG19 beta configs that use a changed or no longer applicable GUC.
Adjusted profile scripts and aliases to avoid unnecessary output in sh and non-interactive shells.

Design Changes

Patroni logs are now collected from local files under /pg/log/patroni instead of the default syslog target.
The limited sudo privileges for dbsu now also allow querying journalctl logs for owned components.
Updated the Supabase self-hosting template to the latest version, and refreshed the Immich and maybe app templates.
Removed the PolarDB-O kernel support stub and adjusted the PolarDB / Cloudberry FHS layout.
The default pgbackrest.conf compression changed from compress-type=lz4 to compress-type=zst.
The vip_interface and pg_vip_interface defaults changed to auto, which automatically uses the NIC associated with the primary IP.
