PanelMenu: Possible to only collapse when clicking icon?

I am using a PanelMenu PrimeNG component (v19.1.0) with multiple submenues. Per default, all submenues are expanded.
Now, if I click on one of the entires, all its submenues collapse.

Is it somehow possible to only collapse/expand submenues if you click on the icon? Currently the event is triggered no matter where on the entry you click.
Also, I still want to use routing, i.e., when clicking on the text, it should still navigate to the route but not collapse any submenues.

1. Click on Files (the text)
2. --> All submenues collaps

Desired behaviour:

1. Click on the icon next to Files --> All submenues collapse
2. Click on icon again --> Submenues expand again
3. Click anywhere other than the icon --> Rows do not collapse, but it should still e.g., fire router events
