Exporting supplementary material to same format as manuscript

Dear Quarto team,

• Quarto version: 1.9.37
• OS: Ubuntu 24.04

I am currently writing a manuscript using the template repository. In addition to my manuscript found in index.ipynb, I have additional jupyter notebooks for supplementary material (additional figures and analyses). I would like to render those in the same format as the main manuscript (remove code chunks and follow the format of my target journal). Is there a way to do so?

My apologies if the question has already been asked and/or if the answer can be found in the documentation. I have not been able to find the information despite my search.

Manuscript is on (main) document and companion notebooks to host the computations mostly.
That's not really intended to generate "independent-ish" documents such as supplementaries.

In this context, if you wish to render other documents than the main document, you would need to use a different project type, at least when rendering those documents.
You could use profiles _quarto-supp.yml in which you set your format target and options, then use quarto render supp1.qmd --profile supp.

You can do this and keep them separated using the include shortcode.

Like a "supp.qmd" with:

## Supplementary {.appendix .unnumbered}
