New language: Polish (Update 2026-08-01)

Note 1: In the lists below, when we refer to English or any other lang, it means not only the monolingual English dictionary benefits of the said improvements & fixes, but also all bilingual dictionaries using English as the destination lang (like ES-EN, FR-EN, KO-EN, etc.).

Note 2: With every update comes a bag of improvements & fixes in words definitions & etymologies for all langs. Those are changes directly applied on the Wiktionary by thousand of contributors. This is implicit that they are part of our dictionaries.

❤️‍🩹 Fixes

• Properly handle the special {{=}} template, meaning we are now missing less words for all dictionaries (a7a8375).

• Chinese: Discover more words (3bd34cf) and more sections (8b7dea7).
• English:
  • Etymologies are now purged from unrenderable tree, introduced in the latest Wiktionary dump (discussion#2737).
  • Get back missing words due to excessive raw code clean-up.
  • Variants may contain an anchor, which didn't work (e08b2ab).
  • Japanese-English: Fixed, and improved, pronunciations:
    • いちい・たいすい (Nakadaka + Heiban – [2]+[0]) (before)
    • いちい・たいすい [ìchíꜜìtàísúí] (Nakadaka + Heiban – [2]+[0]) (now)
• Korean: Removed all KO-* MobiPocket files since Korean is definitively not supported by the Kindle (kindling#22).
• Russian:
  • Keep words using the current word in their head section (db0e4db).
  • Do not keep empty synonyms (d10e928).

❤️‍🔥 New Features

• New language: Polish 🍾 (monolingual#2395)
• Keep translingual sections for bilingual dictionaries instead of only for monolingual ones.
• Genders are now merged with the part of speech (monolingual#2738).

• Russian: Add translingual sections (48ad9e4).

💖 Improvements

• Universal dictionaries:
  • The source lang is prepend to each definition.
  • All definitions from all bilingual dictionaries are now kept (before, when a word was definied in multiple dictionaries, only the first dictionary would be kept).

• English, French, Spanish: More variants.
• Russian: More variants (a4280f9, 30bc096).
• Turkish: More variants (dd8b608).

💔 Temporary Blockers

• 🧑‍🍳 Pocketbook/Vivlio crashes with the latest firmware.
