🧑‍🍳 New languages: Korean & Lojban (Update 2026-09-01)

(This is a changelog to show what we are cooking for you. When you see 🧑‍🍳 it means we are working on it, this is not yet done)

Note 1: In the lists below, when we refer to English or any other lang, it means not only the monolingual English dictionary benefits of the said improvements & fixes, but also all bilingual dictionaries using English as the destination lang (like ES-EN, FR-EN, KO-EN, etc.).

Note 2: With every update comes a bag of improvements & fixes in words definitions & etymologies for all langs. Those are changes directly applied on the Wiktionary by thousand of contributors. This is implicit that they are part of our dictionaries.

❤️‍🩹 Fixes

• Plain Wiktionary redirections are now properly taken into account (efeeb49).
• Fixed, and improved, Kobo support by using the prefix_exceptions sepecial file (used to help the device lookup function to find a variant having a different prefix that its root (like in English with go being a variant of went, or in French with être being a variant of suis, or in Japanese for any variants). It also means that our dictionaries now require the firmware version 4.24.15676 (out on 2020-09-25) or newer (monolingual#2748).

• Japanese: Fix hiragana lookup (monolingual#2750).

❤️‍🔥 New Features

• New language: Korean 🍾 (monolingual#2745).
• New language: Lojban 🍾 (monolingual#2741).
• 🔥 Use translations found in monolingual dictionaries to improve words/sentences coverage in bilingual flavors.

💖 Improvements

• Italian-French: More variants.

• Norwegian:
  • Way more words thanks to the support for reverse variants (monolingual#2561).
  • More synonyms (2cee5bf).

💔 Temporary Blockers

• 🧑‍🍳 Pocketbook/Vivlio crashes with the latest firmware.
