It's unclear whether Sphinx rejects/tolerates/supports/encourages/discourages the extension of object types within the Python (py) domain. Some extensions like sphinx_toolbox.more_autodoc or sphinx-paramlinks add object types like enum, protocol and parameter. These can be found in inventories in the wild, even in packages in the top 500 PyPI packages.
I'm asking because I myself generate inventories with parameter and typeparameter object types from mkdocstrings.
