Stackable Data Platform (SDP) Release 26.7 available! 🥳

Important

🚨 Please read the release notes carefully before upgrading, there might be steps needed for you to take. Operators now determine the product image registry from where they were installed, so everyone should review their image configuration first. Apache Airflow, Apache NiFi, Apache Druid, Apache Hive, Apache Superset, Apache Kafka and Apache Spark all have breaking changes as well.

This release is deliberately small because we focused on internal improvements. Behind the scenes stuff that will make everything better and easier but very little of it is publicly visible. That said, plenty still landed:

Highlights

• Supply chain security: all container images now ship with SLSA Level 3 build provenance attestations generated by independent trusted builders, so you can cryptographically verify image authenticity. SPDX SBOMs are now published alongside the existing CycloneDX ones
• Generic database connection mechanism standardises database configuration across Apache Airflow, Apache Druid, Apache Hive and Apache Superset
• Dynamic image repositories: operators automatically select the product image registry based on where they were installed, which makes air-gapped and mirrored registry setups much easier. Operator Helm charts are now published directly to quay.io from CI
• The Stackable Hub is live: a reference for releases, components and CRDs, with a JSON API and an llms.txt endpoint for LLM integration
• Config hot-reloading for OpenSearch security settings and Trino password files
• Apache Airflow 3.2.2 with asset partitioning and experimental multi-team deployments
• OpenSearch 3.6.0 with 1-bit scalar quantization (up to 32× compression), vector search prefetch (~50% latency reduction) and HTTP/3
• Trino 481 with Apache Iceberg v3 support including row lineage, plus first-class PostgreSQL support in the Trino operator
• Apache Superset 6.1.0 with expanded MCP support and MongoDB / Google Cloud Datastore connectivity
• Apache NiFi 2.9.0 with initial Connectors support and Kinesis without KCL. Note that support for NiFi 1.x has been dropped
• Apache Kafka 4.2.1 (experimental) brings production-ready Kafka Queues; Kafka 3.9.2 is the new LTS
• New LTS versions: Apache Hive 4.2.0, Apache Hadoop 3.4.3, Apache Spark 4.1.2, Apache ZooKeeper 3.9.5, Apache HBase 2.6.6, Apache Druid 37.0.0
• The Open Policy Agent Entra backend is now stable, and Kafka OPA support has been extended to TLS mode
• 133 vulnerabilities fixed (10 critical, 62 high)
• All operator base images upgraded from UBI9 to UBI10
• Kubernetes 1.31–1.36, OpenShift 4.18–4.22

Apache Druid support is now deprecated, with removal planned for SDP 27.11.
