First mention is selected when pressing tab

I believe it makes more sense using tab because enter is primarily used to confirm sending messages

When dealing with autocomplete, I am most used to using Tab. The important part here is that this is also typical behaviour in more than just chat apps, a few popular games tend to take this approach as well (a good example would be Minecraft).

The important thing here is that it is entirely possible to accidentally send a message when attempting to autocomplete with enter. Especially when it comes to users with hand tremors or brain injuries who may find themselves accidentally pressing keys twice (one of my friends suffers from a TBI they received a while back and has been finding themselves accidentally pressing a few keys twice while typing, I ask that this be considered, even if it was just an accessibility option).

For what it is worth, I actually think having both Tab & Enter available for autocomplete would work reasonably well. Those used to using Enter could continue to do so and those used to using Tab could also do so. There's no conflict in this case (afaik) and it allows users to use what they prefer or are most used to.
