Is transport-data/portal available under GPL-3.0?

Hello,

I see that transport-data/tools has a GPL-3.0 license indicator. Does transport-data/portal also fall under GPL-3.0? I am interested in building a CKAN portal of my own and want to ensure the code is freely available for use as a base template.

Some points of info:

• You're right that transport-data/portal repo is missing a license indication. We will add one ASAP. It will probably be either GPL or MIT.
• To be clear, transport-data/portal is mostly a version of datopian/portaljs that has been themed and otherwise customized for the Transport Data Commons by Datopian, the company that originally developed it. The repo also contains configuration for the underlying "plain" instance of CKAN that is used as the backend (the website at https://portal.transport-data.org talks to that instance through the CKAN API).

If your use case is to build a CKAN front-end, I would suggest:

1. Consider whether it makes more sense to contribute to CKAN itself, by providing improvements to its built-in web interface that you can then use/configure in your own deployment.
2. If you want to (re)use features visible in the TDC Portal, consider starting from the PortalJS repo itself, which receives a regular updates. Again, you could either fork or contribute to the project itself.
3. If there is anything unique to the TDC Portal that you'd like to emulate, then the license allows such reuse. We would appreciate credit for the components you use.
