Monthly Wolfi Package Removal Notice – September 2026

Chainguard is scheduled to remove non-latest versions of Wolfi APK packages older than 6 months from public Wolfi repositories as part of our Wolfi package archive policy.

This is the twelfth package removal notice under the new policy. The removals listed below are scheduled for September 9, 2026.

The full list of packages scheduled for removal is provided in the attached file:

These packages:

• Were built more than 6 months ago, and
• Are not required as dependencies for other retained packages, and
• Are not used in Chainguard Container Images.

Please reference the Wolfi package archive policy announcement.

What Do You Need To Do?

• If you pin to specific package versions, check the attached list to ensure your pinned versions are not affected.
• Update to newer package versions as needed.
• Mirror copies of older packages if you require continued access after October 13.

Future Removal Schedule

• Removals occur monthly on the second Wednesday.
• Next Notice: September 9, 2026 - for packages scheduled to be removed on September 8, 2026.

There was a race condition in our tooling between enumerating which packages are in public images; which version streams are new; which version streams are non-latest; and which packages to move. This resulted in accidental move of mariadb-12.3 and haproxy-3.4 packages which are now restored. More details is available here:

In the future monthly package collections we will improve tooling to prevent such race from happening again.
