What if education grew around the child — not the other way around?
Every child alive today will spend their adult life in a world we cannot fully predict. Yet we are still teaching them with a curriculum designed in the 19th century, built for a world that no longer exists.
Seedlight is an open initiative to reimagine learning from the ground up — using AI not to automate teachers, but to make education genuinely personal, adaptive, and equitable at global scale.
The school system is a conveyor belt. Every child, regardless of who they are, where they're from, or how they think, moves through the same content at the same pace toward the same destination.
This wasn't cruelty. It was the best system humans could build at the time — designed to serve millions with limited resources. But that constraint no longer exists.
For the first time in history, we have the technology to offer every child something that used to be reserved for the privileged few: a learning experience built around them.
Seedlight is built on three core ideas:
1. Emergent Curriculum Content organizes itself around the child's world, not the other way around. A child who loves fishing learns physics through water, biology through river ecosystems, and mathematics through tides and distances. The knowledge is the same. The door of entry is personal.
2. Longitudinal AI Companion Not a chatbot. Not a homework helper. An agent that accompanies a child for years — building a living map of how they think, what excites them, where they struggle, and how they grow. More context about a learner than any single human teacher could hold.
3. Predictive Equity The most radical idea: actively preparing children from underserved communities for opportunities before those opportunities arrive. Not reactive. Not remedial. Anticipatory. If the world will need certain skills in 10 years, a child in the periphery should start building toward them today — in ways that feel natural, joyful, and connected to their life.
- Not a replacement for teachers. Teachers do things AI cannot: they witness, they connect, they inspire. Seedlight is infrastructure, not a substitute.
- Not another EdTech product. This is an open protocol and a set of principles. Anyone should be able to build on it.
- Not finished. This is a living document, an open question, an invitation.
We believe the most dangerous thing we could do is build this without confronting its risks. Read ETHICS.md to understand the tensions we're holding openly — including who decides a child's direction, what happens to their data, and how we prevent predictive equity from becoming predictive discrimination.

If you're a developer who believes technology should serve human dignity — welcome.
If you're an educator who has felt the system's limits — welcome.
If you're a researcher, a philosopher, a parent, a dreamer — welcome.
If you're a child who was failed by the system — this was built thinking of you.
🌱 Seed stage. The ideas are here. The architecture is forming. The code is beginning.
This is not a product yet. It's a conviction. And convictions need people to become real.
Right now, the most valuable contributions are not code — they are ideas, challenges, and honest critique.
Open an issue. Start a discussion. Tell us where we're wrong.
The repository will evolve. But the soul of it starts here.
