Search --> map results

When I use Google Maps, I write keyword (e.g. "gas station"), press enter and map opens where you see search results on map.

In OSMAnd a list opens with "show on map" item on top.

Is there any way to make it so that it would directly open "show on map"?

I think this is one of largest weaknesses of OSMAnd, one extra tap to achieve the same and often it is when using phone with one hand where "show on map" is in top and hard to reach with thumb.

Also sometimes you are in a hurry to get that search results (e.g. in car in highway searching for a gas station and slow search result could mean that you miss the closest gas station and have to drive 5-10km to next intersection).

Hello! This behaviour has been a long-standing OsmAnd default. We’re currently finalising improvements to our search algorithm and updating the search UI. We’re currently considering implementing a Google Maps-like behaviour for category-based search. This means after selecting a filling station from the Category tab the search will open in a mode showing both the map and the list.

OK, nice to hear. Another issue (not sure if I made issue of it) is that search field is on top and it is hard to use when using phone with one hand and you have to reach with thumb very up on the UI which is hard with todays large phones.

To be honest, Google Maps is also a bit on last century on this as it also has search field up in the map but if you want to see / try an app where this aspect is better implemented I recomment to try either HERE Maps on android or Apple Maps on IOS. Both have the search field down and you have much rarer needs to tap anything on upper part of screen.
