Map data compression - OpenZL

Hi,

I just recently learned about the OpenZL format-aware compression, and though it might be relevant for map data?

I guess map data is somewhat structured, and thus OpenZL could compress quite well - this could save storage, bandwidth.

What do you think?

Then you need more recoureces CPU/RAM to decompress and use it.

CPU not really according to OpenZL, RAM currently yes, but improving.

The storage saved could justify this though.
