'Imaging.h' file not found

I'm on Mac OS X and am following the guide on 'Building the Overviewer from Source'. I have followed steps 1 through 4 and am now attempting to use the build script to install the Overviewer however moments after initiating the script I get an error saying:

 overviewer_core/src/overviewer.h:33:10: fatal error: 'Imaging.h' file not found

This is despite the folder being referenced in the script for the C_INCLUDE_PATH actually existing.

What's gone wrong?

I think that means you are missing PIL. Are you using http://docs.overviewer.org/en/latest/building/#osx?

Yep, I downloaded it from the link (http://www.pythonware.com/products/pil/) and followed steps 2 and 3 to install it.

Have you trued copying Imaging.h from PIL to the same directory as overviewer_core?

Nope, no change.

Try coping Imaging.h to the same place as overviewer.py, then running setup.py build without the C_INCLUDE_PATH set. (This is exactly the method I use to build Overviewer on OSX myself.)

Just tried that, still makes no difference.

I ran:
python ./setup.py clean
then:
python ./setup.py build

Still the same error.

From the picture of your file structure, you have Imaging.h in the same places as overviewer.h, not overviewer.py

If you want to leave it there, edit overviewer.h to use #include "Imaging.h" rather than #include <Imaging.h>
The <> form should work if you have Imaging.h in the same place as overviewer.py, I'm a little puzzled as to why it wouldn't

Even doing that it doesn't work as it gives errors about other missing files. It does however compile if I move all the content of libImaging into the same dir as overviewer.py. Unfortunately then when I try to run the built script it gives me the following error:

Ah, my bad. I meant both Imaging.h and ImPlatform.h. Copying the entire directory works too but for future reference you don't need everything.

It looks like you're trying to run overviewer.py generated in the build/ directory. Try running the one in the toplevel directory instead; this one has overviewer_core in its search path.
