Connecting with existing software

Hi all, apologies in advance if I'm being thick about this one: when I create a company, how can I configure which software it'll have access to. For example, which CRM, which Google Ads account, which Gmail or Outlook inbox, etc.

I just can't seem to find the UI to configure MCP servers in Paperclip.

Hi @cpinto! You aren't missing anything obvious—the reason you can't find an MCP configuration UI during company creation is due to Paperclip's architecture:

1. Companies are isolation boundaries, not tool containers: Tool and software access is scoped to individual agents, not applied globally to a company.

2. Built-in Integrations (Inboxes, CRMs, etc.):

   • Check the Connectors section in the left navigation menu.
   • Once authenticated, you can delegate connections to specific agents (e.g., giving your sales agent access to a specific Gmail/Outlook inbox or CRM) with granular permissions (Allowed, Ask first, or Off).

3. Custom MCP Servers:

   • Paperclip runs underlying agent runtimes (e.g., Claude Code, Hermes) headlessly.
   • MCP servers are configured at the runtime/workspace level, not in the Paperclip company UI.
   • For Claude Code agents, add the MCP server using the CLI (claude mcp add ...) or place a .mcp.json in the agent's working directory (cwd).
   • If the MCP server requires browser-based OAuth, authenticate it once on the host machine running the agent's heartbeat process so credentials persist.
