Document the two routes, and the device the app registers
The app can read tags out of an Apple account directly now, so every page that
assumed "export a zip on a computer, import it on your phone" described one of
two routes as though it were the only one.
**How-To:-Get-AirTags-into-App** now forks on what the reader has rather than on
what they are willing to do - which was the framing that excluded people whose
tags were never on an Apple account at all. It also states the distinction the
rest of the wiki kept getting wrong: reading tags out of an account happens once
and must be done as the owner, while locating them afterwards only needs some
signed-in account. That is why a zip somebody else exported for you works, and
why OpenHaystack tags work despite having no owning account.
**Home** had the same assumption in its prerequisites and in a linear 1-2-3-4
setup sequence with no path for the iCloud route. Its "the Apple account you
choose to use must be the account that owns the tags" was true of exactly one of
the four cases.
Three new pages:
- **How-To:-Connect-Your-iCloud-Account** - the seven-step flow, including the
device-passcode step that surprises people because it is not the Apple ID
password
- **How-To:-Share-Your-Tags** - the case that has no page at all: you own the
tags, you have no computer, and somebody else wants to see them. The app
exports a zip itself now
- **What-This-App-Registers-On-Your-Apple-Account** - written for somebody
arriving from account.apple.com weeks later, looking at a MacBook Pro they do
not own. Findable by searching either serial, because that is the only string
they can see
- **How-To:-Export-Logs-From-The-App** - the instructions three other places were
repeating inline
**Screenshots are committed here rather than uploaded as attachments.** They are
generated by a script, so the point is that regenerating one and committing it
updates every page using it - which drag-and-dropping into the editor cannot do.
They are laid out in tables, copying the Anisette pages, because a column of
full-height phone screenshots is unreadable.
`0PENTAGVIEWR` and `0PENTAGXPORT` are not the same kind of entry and the pages no
longer say "do not remove them". The app's is its live session; the exporter's
finished the moment your zip was written.
Still stale, not touched here: How-To:-Install-App still tells people to choose an
Anisette Server URL, which local Anisette removed, and two of its links point at
the Anisette pages by their old un-prefixed names.
