[FEATURE REQUEST] 'select inner block' (sorta like Vim)

Is there any chance of like a vim-like select inner block? So, within paired quotes (or brackets or parens or markdown patterns etc)?
Something like [modifier key]+i selects the content between the "markers"

Say we have a pretty ordinary piece of text (that has parens) in it. Like this. It would be great, once the cursor is anywhere inside the '(' and the ')' to be able to invoke some editor command that would select the text inside the '(' and the ')' that the user could then operate on. It would not be limited to ()s, but also {}, [], "", ~~, '', ** etc. That is, any matching set of punctuation. I guess it is something like the inverse of the current editor command "make bold", where after having selected text a cmd/ctrl+b wraps that selection in ** **s Does that make sense?

if you use vim mode, you can still do vf[required char] for e.g vf] will take you to the next bracket with text selected
