Q has a fragmented history of everyone creating their own.
If we want to take the language we should unite to make one strong standard library.

I think the first step would be to agree general principles and what is and is not in scope.

To throw some suggestions out there:

• We should model the standard library either after an existing open q library OR after python.
• We should work with all q's (KX/PeachQ/L/Korze)
• We should work with all operating systems (Only when strong reasons for, do we allow linux only code)

Why?

1. It's been 20+ years, someone has written a good q start library or other languages have learnt many lessons.
2. Fragmenting will not help q win against other languages.
3. We want to meet people where they are at and cross-platform forces ironing out bugs.
