Wills Wing Hang Glider Designs

This repository is under active development. Design files, documentation, and technical resources are being added incrementally. Check back regularly or watch the repository for updates.

This repository contains open source hardware designs for hang gliders originally manufactured by Sport Kites, Inc. (dba Wills Wing) between 1973 and 2025. Sport Kites, Inc. was dissolved in 2025. All intellectual property rights are retained by Steven Pearson and Michael W. Meier as creators and successor rights holders. These designs are being released under the CERN Open Hardware License - Permissive variant (CERN-OHL-P v2.0) to contribute to the advancement of hang gliding technology and safety.

For additional product information, technical bulletins, and company history, visit willswing.com. See the IP Notice for full intellectual property details.

⚠️ SAFETY CRITICAL - READ FIRST

This repository contains designs for aircraft. Hang gliding is inherently dangerous.

Before using any content from this repository:

  1. Read the SAFETY file completely
  2. Understand the LICENSE terms

Historical Context

Wills Wing was founded in 1973 by Chris and Bob Wills as Sport Kites, Inc. Since 1977, the company was managed by Rob Kells, Michael W. Meier, Linda Meier, and Steven Pearson as managing partners and shareholders. Chris Wills remained a shareholder and Board of Directors member throughout the company's history. Wills Wing became one of the world's leading hang glider manufacturers, producing more than 29,000 gliders before dissolving in 2025. These designs represent over 50 years of development, testing, and refinement in hang glider technology.
