Not possible to change Prompt for password under SSH Tunnel

Hi folks!

After upgrading to 9.15 I can't switch Prompt for password under SSH Tunnel, as you can see in the image.

I have changed the password of my tunnel connection and I can't change it in pgAdmin if this switch is not working...

Hi @jmorciva — thanks for the report and for following up with your second screenshot, which actually told us exactly what's going on. Good news: nothing is broken in your setup, and the Prompt for password option you found under the Connection section still works the same way it did in v9.14.

Here's what changed in v9.15 in plain terms:

A new switch was added under SSH Tunnel called "Prompt for password?" — but it has a very specific job that wasn't obvious from its name. It only does anything useful when your SSH tunnel uses an identity file (an SSH private key) instead of a password. The job of the new switch is to say "my identity file has a passphrase on it, please ask me for that passphrase when I connect."

If you're using password authentication for your SSH tunnel (like in your screenshot), the new switch is greyed out on purpose — there's nothing for it to do, because the existing Connection → Prompt for password is already the right place to manage how pgAdmin asks for your password. That's the option you found in your second screenshot, and that's exactly what you should keep using.

So nothing actually regressed — but the new switch's label "Prompt for password?" was too generic and made it look like the broken one. Easy mistake to make, especially when you're upgrading and the layout shifts slightly.

I've opened PR #10010 to clarify it:

• Rename the new switch to "Prompt for identity file password?" — so it's obvious at a glance which kind of password it controls.
• Add a longer help message that explains both: what enabling it does, and where to look for the password-authentication equivalent (which is what you were after).

The behaviour itself isn't changing; just the label and the help text, so the next person who comes across this screen won't end up confused the same way.

In the meantime, to change your SSH tunnel password: open the server's properties dialog, go to the SSH Tunnel tab, update the Password field there, and save. (Or — if you'd rather be asked for it on every connection instead of saving it — leave that Password field blank, and pgAdmin will prompt you for it when you connect.)
