Duplicate EBMS:4001

The duplicate detection use EBMS:4001

I have question regarding this code, is it mandatory to send the error to the sender part ? Wouldn't be better to just drop the file since it's a duplicate ?

My issue with the current solution is that this code is specific on your solution, and non-standard. For example if a message handler decide to retry when receiving a failure, we are going into a infinite loop until one side decide to stop.
If it's mandatory to inform the sender, is there any standard solution, so the sender can detect the duplicate no just with a code by receiver implemantion ?

Well, the problem is, that e.g. in the Peppol Network, the duplicate handling is not described. Technically both solutions are possible: reject with an error or silently ignore it.
As nothing was defined, explicitly ignoring seemed to be the better solution at the time, however I understand the potential infinite loop problem.
The "EBMS:4001" code was indeed an invention from me, to be able to clearly separate this error from other errors.
However, I assume an option between "silently ignoring" and "returning an error" would make sense. If you agree, just create an issue for it and link it here.
