This is WIP for removing PEAR and PECL. There are some outstanding items:

  • Sort the Windows build out and remove PECL references from win32/build
  • Check php.m4 PHP_PECL_EXTENSION subst meaning and double check phpize
  • Look into PEAR PHP_Archive referenced heavily in phar ext and drop it from there
  • Improve docs changes to reference PIE
  • Look into removing / deprecating the PEAR constants - PEAR_INSTALL_DIR and PEAR_EXTENSION_DIR
  • Rename nightly PECL job
