Labels

This page describes the labels used on Issues in this repository. It doesn't cover Discussions — those aren't labeled the same way, and general questions/feature requests/ideas belong there instead of Issues.

Type labels

What kind of issue this is.

Infrastructure	Larger structural or tooling work (the label's own description is just "Major Stuff" — use it for anything bigger than a routine fix that affects the project as a whole, e.g. the translation pipeline itself rather than one language's content)

Translation-specific labels

These cover the actual content of the PO catalogs — what's wrong or missing in a given language's translation.

Label	Purpose
translation	A translation content issue — wording, mistranslation, or anything about how something was translated
incomplete-translation	A genuine gap: content untranslated or missing compared to the English source
terminology	Wording that has drifted from the real phpBB language pack for that language (phpBB's own UI/software translations are the source of truth for terms like "Private Message" or "Moderator", not the docs translator's own word choice)

Use translation for a wording/quality problem in existing translated text, and incomplete-translation for text that simply isn't translated yet. An issue can carry both if it's unclear which applies, or if fixing it means both filling a gap and getting the wording right.

lang:* labels

One label per language this repository has (or is building) a translation for, e.g. lang:da, lang:de, lang:fr, lang:pt-br. These use phpBB's own language pack codes, not arbitrary abbreviations — check phpBB's own language pack list if you're unsure of a code.

Labels always use hyphens (lang:de-x-sie), even for the one language whose on-disk directory in this repo uses an underscore instead (de_x_sie/) — that's a naming quirk of this repo's directory layout, not something the label follows. When in doubt, match the label list, not the directory name.

Every issue about a specific language's translation should carry the matching lang:* label, in addition to whatever type/translation label describes the problem itself. An issue that's about the pipeline or tooling in general, not any one language, doesn't need a lang:* label at all.

Notes

• Questions, general feature ideas, and open-ended discussion belong in Discussions, not Issues — so there's no question label here.
• Priority/status labels (priority: high, status: in progress, etc.) are intentionally not used; keep status conversation in the issue's comments instead.
