Feature Request: Ability to Add IP Ranges

I would like to request the ability to add IP Ranges instead of being locked into IP Subnets. For some of our smaller remote offices we have one subnet and a portion of that subnet is used for DHCP.

Example:

Subnet 10.9.1.0/24
DHCP Range: 10.9.1.100-182

You can do this by adding a new IP but doing it as a range 10.9.1.100-10.9.1.182. Hovering over the 'i' graphic during IP address add shows you an example as well.

I'd like to reopen this, because this feature is probably not what the user actually wanted; it's certainly not what I wanted when I was searching for this feature.

Adding a range this way simply creates a bunch of individual address entries, when what I (and perhaps @swhiteciti ) actually wanted was a way to designate a range as reserved as more of a note. As an aside, there doesn't seem to be a way to select and undo this bulk creation, so now I have hundreds of individual IP addresses to manually delete one by one. :(

Back on topic, for example's sake, one of the networks I administer has a top level address of 192.168.112.0/21. Within that range, sub-ranges are used for different things. 112.* is used for static IP assignments to VMs, 113.* is used for static assignments to physical devices, 114.* is used for DHCP reservations, 115.* is used for normal DHCP, and so on. These ranges all exist within a single subnet and VLAN, but are used for different purposes, and we have been looking for an IPAM that can help track this logical segmentation. This arrangement may not be ideal from some perspectives, but it's what exists, and it is not going to change any time soon, so renumbering the network to suit the management tool is out.

It doesn't look like phpipam can do this at present, with it's somewhat narrow focus on forcing organization around subnets.

Click on the "i" icon in the top right. You can specify ranges when adding, editing and deleting IPs

I'm running 1.5.2 and can neither enter a range as 1.2.3.4-10 or 1.2.3.4 - 1.2.3.10. Nor do I have an 'i' icon at the top of the Create Subnet form. We would definitely benefit from being able to add ranges.

@GaryAllan, that doesn't work if you trying to mark range of IPs as DHCP because they are already autodiscovered and trying to specifying range leads to
Error: SQLSTATE[23000]: Integrity constraint violation: 1062 Duplicate entry '3232235811-7' for key 'sid_ip_unique'

Because instead of adding non-existing and editing existing this button tries to add everything, see

Personally I found it's really strange that IPAM system doesn't have function to mark part of subnet as DHCP pool, I can find request for such feature as far as 13(!) years ago, yet there is no such thing, instead there answers like "use sub-subnet and mark them as pool". That's simple incorrect way to do things, since DHCP (as most common example) is not limited by CIDR at all.

That project is great for small homelabs like mine where I only have 3 networks and around 80-130 VMs, but it's lack a really simple feature that's exactly needed for such small labs :(
