Why I need to create an empty instance for generate an id?

That dose not seems the make sens.

Why no just

Puid.generate()

instead of

var puid = new Puid();
puid.generate();

[pid]

My first thoughts: Interesting to hear this suggestions from a C# and Ruby Developer ;-)

Please take a look in the constructor function, think about the initial config part and determining nodeId, processId... I hope this clarifies why it make sens to me do it this way, but I'm always interested to take a look on your implementation ;-)

I see what you mean.

Even of that, it dose not feel right. Creating an instance of Puid sound like an entitiy not like a generator class what it is now.

I would to something like that.

var generatePuid = Puid.generator();

var id = generatePuid();

[pid]

Ok, I see what you mean :-)
Will think about it next time/module; changing the API will be more uncomfortable as using it the current way
