This is a beta leading towards Scroll Reverser 2.0. It is a major update aiming to solve common pain points of the 1.x versions, whilst remaining simple and easy to use. I never expected when I created this app 15 years ago that I'd still be updating it in 2026, but here we are, and it still seems to be as popular as ever! The app remains free and open source — see the code at https://github.com/pilotmoon/Scroll-Reverser.
What's new:
A setting for each device. Each trackpad, mouse or other input device now has its own individual setting so you can set each one exactly how you like it. Devices appear in Settings › Scrolling the first time you use them.
More reliable and more efficient. Scroll Reverser no longer detects a trackpad by counting the fingers touching it via gesture events. Instead, it reads device information directly. This was a frequent source of unreliability in previous versions.
Only needs Accessibility permission. Input Monitoring permission is no longer required.
Better support for remote input devices. Scrolling sources such as Universal Control and Screen Sharing each get their own setting, letting you tweak your setup more precisely than before.
After upgrading from 1.x, please check your individual devices in Settings › Scrolling.
