Distinguish user prompts from automation runs in the thread minimap
#19624
I use scheduled automations in threads where I also send prompts. After many automated runs, the navigation marks along the left edge all look alike. Finding something I asked requires hovering over marks one by one or scrolling through the conversation.
Messages already show when automation sent them, but the minimap does not.
Proposed direction
Distinguish manual prompts from automation runs in the existing minimap:
Keep manual prompts as solid marks.
Give automation runs dashed marks using the active theme's accent color.
Include the sender in hover previews and accessible jump labels.
If you prefer to emphasize user messages, their solid marks could use the accent color while automation marks stay neutral. The solid and dashed patterns would distinguish them without relying on color alone.
Every message would remain available for navigation, with its existing jump target and associated response. The proposal is limited to the minimap used by web and desktop. It adds no filtering, settings, automation behavior, or new navigation workflow.
Prototype
PR #17827 contains a prototype, screenshots, and focused tests.
Following Maria's closing comment, I'm asking for agreement on direction and scope here before requesting reconsideration.
Decision requested
Would you approve this distinction in the minimap? Should the accent color highlight user prompts or automation runs, or would you prefer another treatment?
Once we agree on the scope, may I request reconsideration of #17827?
