Git fetch running constantly in the background is very annoying

In my setup i don't have an ssh agent socket that just allows unrestricted git access to my userspace apps. I have a prompt popping up to touch my security key every time a git command is ran. So the constant git fetching or whatever the app does in background is very annoying because i get a prompt pop up like every 10 seconds

If there was a switch to disable background git operations it would be very cool

Same here, super annoying. This should be a problem for any secure Git setup..

On slow network or very large repos, this might bring terrible UX.
