Tufte Map 0.3.0

@PleiadesM PleiadesM released this 27 Sep 03:39

Install by hand: put main.js, manifest.json and styles.css in YourVault/.obsidian/plugins/tufte-map/ and enable Tufte Map. The first open after updating lays the map out afresh once.

  • Draw the map to fill its sheet: satellites reeled in
  • Name each summit in red italic beneath a larger red dot
  • No numerals on the sheet; the details list keeps the ranks
  • Name the most important summits first
  • Draw ordinary notes as a faint tint of the red
  • Size each summit's dot by importance, within a fifth
  • Draw each summit's dot on the summit
  • An unchanged vault opens to the same map at once
  • Every sidebar summit name hangs on a leader
  • Less margin: the map fills more of the panel
  • Contour levels, line width and line opacity as settings
  • Sixteen contour levels by default, the sidebar included
  • A lighter terrain: sage lowlands climbing to a pale ochre
  • A terrain opacity setting, four tenths by default
  • Choose the lowland, summit, summit dot and note dot colours
  • Choose the summit dots' and note dots' opacity

Tufte Map 0.2.0

@PleiadesM PleiadesM released this 24 Sep 04:50
  • A dot's colour runs from warm grey to red by importance; summits stay full red
  • Every dot is drawn at one size, the most important a tenth larger, with a Dot size slider
  • New Importance sliders: inbound links, outbound links, note length, recent edits. The defaults keep today's order by links
  • Summits, the notes named and Enter's best match follow importance; moving a weight re-anchors the map without relaying it out

Tufte Map 0.1.1

@PleiadesM PleiadesM released this 23 Sep 17:46
  • Clear the review's CSS lint warnings: the text controls' underline is now a hairline bottom border, and the details grid uses the gap shorthand. No visible change.

Tufte Map 0.1.0

@PleiadesM PleiadesM released this 23 Sep 17:11

First release.

  • The vault's link graph as a contour map: notes that link to one another lie close together, the land rises where notes are dense, each summit is named after its most connected note
  • Summits in red; ordinary notes in warm greys by centrality
  • Bridges between summit regions, fainter over land
  • Islets packed toward the centre
  • Hover names a note; click opens it; zoom names more notes
  • A compact presentation for the sidebar

Install by hand until it is listed in the community directory: put main.js, manifest.json and styles.css in YourVault/.obsidian/plugins/tufte-map/, then enable Tufte Map under Settings → Community plugins.

Pairs with the Tufte for Obsidian theme.
